Bullying

Bullying could be a repetitive abusive activity that may be physical, verbal, in relationships, social, in-person, or through social media. Bullies are also aggressive, harassing, and harm over and over for an extended period. you'll be able to sleep in absolute fear of how and where the bully hits next, what they are going to try and do, and the way far they are going to travel. The bullying may be physical, verbal and it may be relationship bullying. The bullying is by one person or it is from a group or we are able to call it “mobbing”. this might occur at school, family, the workplace, the home, and neighborhoods. Bullying will cause physical, mental, psychological harm, and could stay for the long term.

There is a page called stopbullying.gov which she has collected data from two sources and said that there are two sources of federally collected data on youth bullying:

·        The 2017 School Crime Supplement to the National Crime Victimization Survey (National Center for Education Statistics and Bureau of Justice) indicates that, nationwide, about 20% of students ages 12-18 experienced bullying.

·        The 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) indicates that, nationwide, 19.5% of students in grades 9–12 report being bullied on school property in the 12 months preceding the survey.

During my days in school, we used to have a friend who used to stutter a lot and she was shy at the same time and who doesn't interact in class because she was always afraid of talking because there are some students that will make fun of her and bully her. so One day all of us except the girl was told to stay in the classroom. We were wondering what it is about, then our headteacher enters and told us that there is something important to talk about. She started by telling us that bullying is not right and only causes harm to the victim and especially if they have a medical or physical condition and that all of us should treat all of our friends equally because they are the same and everyone has their own differences. She was talking to all of her students and didn't talk about a specific person and she didn't yell on the opposite she talked to us as if we were grownups and that was what I really like about her. Then, a few days later I started to notice that bullying in our class has stopped and everyone started to be supportive and friendly to each other.

So as teachers, we should be aware of it and aware of these students and help the students that are bullied to stop any future harm and harassment and we should teach the students to say no to the bullying and to stop it when they see it plus we should teach them that bullying will only cause harm to the other person with no benefit for the bully and no need to it and as bullies they should think what if they are bullied what then they will act and what they will feel. We can prevent bullying by creating signs, tell them to inform the supervisors, their teachers, or their parents about the happened bullying and the bullies, and we can always talk about it with our students and show them what is right and what is wrong. We should always be by the side of the victim because they are the ones who need help the most.

  1. Bullying is a very important topic that each teacher should read about before the beginning of her/his teaching life to know well how to deal with those type of students.
